Videographer – Brigham Young University

Job Summary
This position is responsible for creating and supervising the production of commercial quality film deliverables for BYU Creative Marketing and ultimately for campus departments and organizations. This position directs the creative and technical production of student videographers, writers, and production staff. The resource in this position also personally produces and maintains the following types of media: commercial photography, audio production, video production, animation, motion graphics, digital signage, writing, editing, and related services.

Essential Functions

Audiovisual Production (40%)

  • Commercial video production, editing
  • Audio production, editing

  • Digital signage creation and management

Student Employee Supervision/Direction (20%)

  • Interviewing
  • Hiring
  • Training
  • Creative & technical direction of student work
  • Turnover & succession planning

Other Media and Analytics (15%)

  • Social media posting and management (youtube, wistia, vimeo)
  • Strategy, concept, distribution
  • Using social media metrics or Google Analytics to report progress

Administrative Meetings (5%)

  • Regular staff meetings
  • University meetings & community events

Client Interaction (15%)

  • Develop solutions to meet customer needs
  • Provide legendary customer service
  • Answer questions
  • Troubleshoot technical problems
  • Business solutions, and marketing strategy consulting
  • Build relationships of trust and value

New Learning (5%)

  • Workshops, conferences, association meeting
  • Referring to award winning web sites for inspiration

Minimum education/experience required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Animation, Advertising, Film, Photography, or related field of study
• More than 3 years’ experience managing creative production in studio, in-house corporate advertising team, advertising firm, etc.

• Master’s degree in Digital Media, Animation, Advertising, Film, or related field of study
• More than 5 years’ experience managing creative production in studio, in-house corporate design team, advertising firm, etc.

• Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Premiere or Final Cut Pro – Required
