2012-13 AAF-Utah Board Announcements
Under the direction of Teri Gibson, the AAF-Utah nominating committee presents the following officers and directors to serve on AAF-Utah’s 2012-13 board. This slate was presented and gained membership approval at the AAF-Utah Silver Medal luncheon and annual business meeting on May 9, 2012.
EXECUTIVE BOARD, 2012-13
PRESIDENT: ADAM MORGAN
Executive Creative Director, THOMASARTS INC.
Adam’s 16 years in advertising has seen the range from international networks such as Publicis, Euro RSCG and McCann Erickson to small creative boutiques like Riddell Advertising in the mountains of Jackson Hole. Likewise, his creative work has earned recognition from international awards including the One Show and Graphis to our local ADDY’s. Adam believes in big ideas and has a natural talent at seeing the big picture. He has created memorable work for a range of brands including Zions Bank, Plantronics, Intel, Yakima Car Racks, Marmot Outerwear, SunGard, Iomega, Maxim Ropes, Microsoft, Vail Resorts, Good Technology and Morgan Jewelers. Adam currently works on the Zions Bank account at ThomasArts. He is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys mountaineering, rock climbing, skiing, paragliding, and any other adventure he can find.
FIRST VICE PRESIDENT: GINA GIRARDI
PROMOTIONS/MARKETING SPECIALIST, XPEDX
Gina has been at xpedx, the leading national distributor of fine paper, graphic supplies, packaging and facility supplies, for 12 years. She works to educate printers, graphic designers, print buyers and end users about the numerous paper options available as well as market trends and industry information. Part of this educational process is achieved by teaching seminars and training courses. Through the xpedx printer certification program, she helps customers understand the value in becoming Chain of Custody certified and creates awareness of environmental/sustainability issues relating to the print and design community. She has served on the National Specification Council for xpedx and is currently serving on the national Brand Marketing Team. She graduated from the University of Utah with a BS in Mass Communication and a BS in Socio-Cultural Anthropology.
SECOND VICE PRESIDENT: JEREMY WOLD
DIGITAL STRATEGY AND SOLUTIONS MANAGER, RICHTER7
From design to in-house marketing to agency project management, Jeremy has been an integral member of each process within the advertising industry. Before joining the Richter7 team, he completed his MBA in Marketing Management and served as the creative director of his own design company for five years. At Richter7 Jeremy directs the strategy of all digital campaigns for clients, including Zions Bank, Park City Chamber, Polynesian Cultural Center and Wendy’s. In addition, he supervises the database marketing, technology, project management, digital design and development within the digital department. Outside of the office, his days center around rock climbing, playing guitar, running and skiing, preferably with his cute son, Jonas, and beautiful wife, Jana.

Jim has 24 years of experience in communications and marketing. After finishing college, he began his communications work in Washington, D.C. and worked in communications for members of Congress and at a major national political party. Jim served as Campaign Director on a race for a U.S. Senate seat in California. He then worked in senior communications and marketing positions for Novell in Utah. He's been with RIESTER since 2008. Jim holds a bachelor’s degree in business with a marketing major from Miami University (Ohio) and a Master of Arts degree in American History from the University of Utah.

Jasmine graduated magna cum laude from the University of Utah with a bachelor’s degree in organizational communication and a minor in sociology. With over seven years of ad agency experience, her quest for orderliness and eye for detail ensure that PPBH’s media initiatives are well researched, developed and executed from initial strategic planning through post-campaign analysis. In 2011, Jasmine was honored in the media category by the American Advertising Federation of Utah’s inaugural Rockie Awards. In her free time, you can be sure to find Jasmine in the mighty Wasatch Mountains, either skiing, mountain biking, hiking or camping.

Shawn is an innovator in interactive communication and online marketing that leads organizations, brands and public figures through the changing climate of digital marketing. He filled leadership roles in developing new media and traditional marketing strategies for Zions Bank, Utah Food Bank, Mozy, Subway, Megaplex Theatres, Home Depot, EnergySolutions, Tony Hawk, Kareem Abdul Jabbar and the Utah Jazz. Shawn earned his MBA with an emphasis in Marketing from Georgia State University. He also holds a Masters in International Business from the Sorbonne and a Bachelor’s in Marketing from Brigham Young University. Currently, he sits on the board of directors for Turning Point, a cancer awareness and rehabilitation organization.

After unsuccessfully being able to match his own tan to that of David Hasselhoff, Brady decided he would instead use 'The Hoff's' perfect tan as a color pallet for his first ad project—designing print and web elements on a dark beer campaign. Outside of the tanning bed he works as an art director. He has created print and digital campaigns for clients in the retail, food and beverage, technology, banking and insurance industries.

A Utah native and University of Utah graduate, Machel Devin works as an Account Manager at Struck. Machel migrated from public relations to account management and has since worked on some diverse and exciting luxury brands and consumer packaged goods engagements, most recently including The Grand America, ProvoCraft and City Creek Center. Machel loves to cook, dine out at new Salt Lake restaurants and has a passion for all things fashion.

Patricia has been in the Utah auto industry for 27 years. During this time, she has seen a large number of changes in both advertising and the auto industry. Patricia currently holds dual roles for the Willey Automotive Group in Bountiful, and the Quality Automotive Group in Tooele. Her roles are that of HR Director and Marketing Manager. Patricia advises plans and purchases the dealerships advertising in: Radio, Television, and Outdoor media and Direct-Mail campaigns. She enjoys the diversity of her position and is grateful for the great friends she has made along the way. When not at work, Patricia enjoys pilates and playing tennis.

Michael is an Account Supervisor at McCann Worldgroup. Michael has over seven years agency experience in account management and a strong background with interactive marketing, including website development, lead generation, SEO, SEM and online display advertising. Michael has worked with such client industries as travel and tourism, consumer packaged goods, government, banking and musical equipment. He is no stranger to the Utah market, having also worked for Riester~Robb (RIESTER) in SLC and Los Angeles and Richter7. Michael is very passionate about the local ad industry and excited for another term serving on the AAF-Utah Board.

Before joining Saxton Horne in February of 2011, Jared spent ten years in management roles at the Megaplex Theatres, rotating between five locations and opening two of them. Jared is a believer in the power of online conversation and excels in applying operational vision to over fifty of Saxton | Horne's social media clients. Jared has designed and implemented numerous social media strategies for a wide range of clients. Jared is a graduate of the University of Utah with a B.S. in Mass Communication and an emphasis in Public Relations.

One amazing college internship while at the University of Wisconsin (Go Badgers!) started her career path in radio. 2012 marks Helen's 20th year in radio, 15 of those years with Clear Channel Media and Entertainment in Salt Lake City and Phoenix.

Serving as the agency’s social cause marketing expert, Steve’s extensive experience in strategic communications, media relations and event planning makes him the must-have person for advocacy campaigns aimed at changing public perception. During his time at R&R Partners, Steve has spearheaded the states’ underage drinking prevention campaign, ParentsEmpowered.org; Mothers Against Drunk Driving’s (M.A.D.D.) teen alcohol prevention effort; and the statewide prescription drug awareness campaign, UseOnlyAsDirected.org. In fact, Steve can’t seem to get enough of social cause campaigns—so he recently completed a master’s degree in professional communications, with an emphasis in social and public marketing.
