Public Relations Intern  - ThomasARTS

 

Overview

ThomasARTS, the largest independently owned integrated marketing communications
firm in Utah, is seeking a public relations intern. The intern will work closely with the
public relations team members to secure positive publicity for clients and for the
agency. This includes understanding the needs of clients to create and execute
strategic PR plans. The public relations associate serves as support on assigned PR
accounts and fulfills needs across the PR team.  

Duties and Responsibilities

• Creating strategic public relations plans based on business goals of clients
• Securing positive press opportunities for clients
• Building and maintaining media lists
• Performing media research and media outreach  
• Writing a variety of public relations materials  
• Assisting with client events  
• Providing comprehensive reporting of ROI to clients and account managers
• Working with account management and other agency service areas to complete integrated marketing campaigns  

Basic Skills Required

• Hold or working toward a degree in public relations or closely related field  
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Deep interest in and understanding of the public relations industry
• Experience creating a variety of public relations materials
• Creativity in developing solutions for client needs
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Familiar with software such as Cision, LexusNexus and wire services such as PRNewswire
• Experience incorporating social media into marketing campaigns
